Angular contact ball bearings are transverse bearings with raceways designed to carry axial loads in both directions. Also known as four-point bearings, they feature high load capacity and have a separable construction. They are designed to ensure a four-point contact of the balls in the cage. This allows the bearings to carry axial loads in both directions and, to a lesser extent, combined loads. However, they are not suitable for radial loads and should not be used for that purpose. Another feature of their construction is the presence of a split inner ring. This allows for the use of a greater number of balls, which positively affects the bearing's load capacity. Both halves of the inner ring can be mounted independently of the outer ring assembly with the cage and balls, typically featuring a robust brass cage.
Single-row angular contact ball bearings, bidirectional.
