Tapered bearings
A tapered roller bearing is a type of rolling bearing where the rolling elements and raceways are shaped like a truncated cone. The bearing is designed to carry high axial loads, even on the same order as the radial loads it can bear, although it only handles axial loads well in one direction. For this reason, tapered bearings are usually used in pairs on a single shaft. This is an excellent solution wherever both radial forces and significant axial forces are present on the shafts, which are too high for standard ball bearings to handle.
In terms of construction, inch tapered bearings are fundamentally identical to metric bearings, though the specific dimensions do differ.
It often turns out that the bearing used by the manufacturer does not meet expectations and needs to be replaced with a higher load class model. Often, it is also a matter of price. Buying replacement parts from a Polish supplier instead of the machine manufacturer allows for significant savings. Due to some standardization of markings, identifying a substitute for the bearing found in the machine is not a problem. If you have any questions, our advisors will be happy to assist you.
